Ben Schindler, President
Ben has been actively employed in the graphic arts industry since the age
of 16. He began working in a hot-metal letterpress shop, where they needed
his help with pre-press and running the small offset, which none of the letterpress
operators understood. Ben worked at different printing shops running presses,
doing pre-press and bindery from age 16 to 21, when he graduated college, went
into management, and ultimately sales.
Ben earned his Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic State
University, San Luis Obispo, graduating with honors in 1979 with a major in
Graphic Communications, and a concentration in Printing Management.
Ben enjoyed 10 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego
Printing Industry Association (PIA) Sales Club, spent one year as president,
and one year on the Board of Directors of the SD Printing Industry Association,
mostly in the 90's. After that time, he shifted his public service posture
to community outreach, becoming a Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 996 in San Diego,
serving as Scoutmaster for 6 years, and contributing for 10 years as a BSA
High Adventure Leader specialist.
